August/September 2018 - London + Scotland (Part 1)
Continuing on my strange medical elective choices, my second destination was Orkney, a group of islands north of Scotland's mainland. I had about 1.5 weeks before the elective started so I visited London, Edinburgh (with a day trip to Glasgow), Isle of Skye and Inverness. And on the way back, I went through Aberdeen before going through London then finally back to Singapore.
Part 1 will be about London, Part 2 about Scotland, Part 3 about Orkney and Aberdeen.

August 2018 - Micronesia
So, somehow, I ended up in Pohnpei, one of the 4 states of
Micronesia, for 3 weeks in August. In the last year of medical school,
my school gave us 12 weeks to plan our local and overseas electives. I
wanted to do a posting in a rural, developing island for the scenic
views and to experience a very different healthcare system. Originally, I
wanted to go to the Cook Islands, but they were full for the period I
requested, so my friend and I emailed many many other hospitals in
similar places and the doctor from Pohnpei responded so that's how we
ended up here, in a place most would not even have heard of before.
Our route there was long and complicated. We took Qantas to Brisbane, then Air Niugini to Papua New Guinea for a stopover of 6h then Air Niugini to Pohnpei via Chuuk. 3 flights over 24h. There is a shorter route to PNG from Singapore directly but the timings meant that we'd have to spend a night in PNG, which I didn't want to.

Drama Reviews - Pretty Noona Whos Buys Me Food/Something In The Rain (2018)
About Yoon Jin Ah (Son Ye Jin) who starts a relationship with her best friend's younger brother, Seo Joon Hee (Jung Hae In) and how they work out the conflicts that arise between their families and between themselves. Also started my mini SYJ obsession where I marathoned all her movies haha.

Drama Reviews - What's Wrong With Secretary Kim (2018)
What's Wrong With Secretary Kim is about Kim Miso (Park Min Young) who has been the secretary to Lee Young Joon (Park Seo Joon), vice-chairman of a chaebol group, but she decides to tender her resignation one day, leading to much shenanigans. I got bored of Pretty Noona so I decided to watch this since it was getting rave reviews!

Son Ye Jin movie marathon
So, when my short 1 week break started, I started watching Pretty Noona Who Buys Me Food (for Son Ye Jin & PD Ahn Pan Seok), which led me down the rabbit hole of watching all the SYJ movies I haven't watched so far. I've watched Alone In Love, and it kinda ripped my heart out, so I know she's great and have always loved that she has both the beauty and the acting chops, but I just haven't been keeping up with her activities these few years when she focused on movies. But luckily this means I have material to watch while waiting for new Noona eps haha.
I've watched The Classic and A Moment To Remember before, and decided to watch AMTR again just to bask in my tears LOL. These two are classics that most k-movie fans will probably have watched before so I don't need to add more, except that she was LUMINOUS.

Drama Reviews - Because This Is My First Life (2017)
Because This Is My First Life is a romantic comedy about a writer, Yoon Jiho (Jung Somin) who gets into a contract marriage with Nam Sehee (Lee Minki), as she needs a roof over her head and he needs the rent money for his house loan. Jiho has 2 best friends - Woo Sooji (Esom) who works in a big company and prefers one night stands over a relationship, and Yang Horang (Kim Gaeun) who just dreams to marry her long term boyfriend.
So many people raved over it, so it was one of the few 2017 dramas I decided to watch. Not because I don't want to watch more, but because I simply have no time!

Drama Reviews - Age Of Youth 2 (2017)
The one and only drama I completed during this hols is this precious little gem of a drama! I finished AOY S1 about a month before S2 came out so I was hyped for S2, and luckily wasn't disappointed. Of the 5 housemates last season, our beloved Kang unnie left the house to be a business woman, so we had a new addition in the character Jo Eun. Song Jiwon also took center stage in this story as hers was the last demon left to be uncovered.
