Drama Reviews - What's Wrong With Secretary Kim (2018)

What's Wrong With Secretary Kim is about Kim Miso (Park Min Young) who has been the secretary to Lee Young Joon (Park Seo Joon), vice-chairman of a chaebol group, but she decides to tender her resignation one day, leading to much shenanigans. I got bored of Pretty Noona so I decided to watch this since it was getting rave reviews!

This is a romcom through and through, and luckily it was very romantic and very comedic. Directing was a strong point, especially with the sound effects that just heightened the comedy of everything. Our 2 leads had such a fun, zippy relationship with each other, and were interesting individuals on their own too. Both actors had great facial expressions and comedic timing - I love all of Park Min Young's wtf faces at Lee Young Joon's weird antics! Park Min Young was the heart of the show for me. I felt that she was pitch perfect as MiSo, though MiSo could have been TOO perfect a character lol. She literally has no flaws! I was very pleasantly surprised by the development of Young Joon's character, because he was narcissistic till the end, but also had that caring side that was nicely shown to have always been present. The supporting characters were pretty inessential to the plot and no one made a really huge impression on me, but they did succeed in providing extra comic relief.

The overarching plot of them being kidnapped when young was surprisingly interesting and sinister, and really helped to explain many plot points that were established earlier on. However, once this was all tied up by ep 12, there was just no more plot and it was all about their relationship, which I was fine with cos they're so freaking cute together, but may have been abit boring. I was also fine with the fact that in the end, MiSo remained Young Joon's secretary, because it's what she's good at, and she finally found the answers to many of her life's question marks.

I really enjoyed it overall and breezed through the episodes easily so it's good for a marathon!
