Drama Reviews - Kill It (2019)

Kill It is about detective Do Hyun Jin (Nana) going after the killer in a string of high profile murders, who is a hitman for hire, Kim Soo Hyun (Jang Ki Yong) who also happens to be her childhood best friend. The two share a tragic past, and being on opposite sides of the law as adults, were likely to end up with a tragic ending.

I watched this show purely because of Nana (After School forever), and she didn't disappoint. She held up well, and I enjoyed her chemistry with Jang Ki Yong. Both of them are incredibly good looking, and I was honestly expecting the show to show more of their doomed relationship, but they never even started anything! Nana and Jang Ki Yong are still both pretty early in their acting careers so they did well but definitely have room for improvement. I did enjoy the side characters, especially the teenage girl who lives in their apartment who both adults dote on.

The cinematography was pretty standard of an OCN show - dark and gritty. The story was initially exciting and intriguing, but by the midway point the show revealed all its cards. The viewers had figured out everything and were just waiting for the characters in the show to keep up with us, which took the tension and excitement out of the plot. I was binge watching and addicted for the first half of the show, then subsequently I found myself lacking motivation to finish the show.

All in all, a drama that had much potential but alas, ended up only mediocre due to the early reveal of the plot. Worth watching for the very pretty leads though.
